On March 1, 1963 his name was given the international Balzan Prize for Peace in recognition of his intense activity to avoid conflicts and to signal to humanity the path for the peaceful coexistence of peoples. On the 7th of the same month, he received, in private audience, the Honorable Senator Giovanni Gronchi, General President of the "Balzan International Foundation", who officially informed him of the award. On that occasion he gave a speech of thanks in French. He will receive it on May 10th.
