In 1921 he was called to Rome as president for Italy of the Central Council of the Pontifical Society for the Propagation of the Faith and here he nourished his love for foreign missions influenced also by contact with Blessed Father Paolo Manna, Superior General of the Pontifical Institute for Foreign Missions (PIME ). He had as his program: "The whole Church for the whole world" and was one of the greatest animators of the missionary cause of the century.
