On April 11, 1963, Holy Thursday, Pope Roncalli published the Encyclical PACEM IN TERRIS addressed for the first time not only to Catholics but also "to all men of good will". In the situation of the contemporary world it was considered by all, even by non-Christians, as the best expression of the ways to nourish the hopes of peace and solidarity of the whole human race. It was placed in the United Nations archives in New York.
(Pope John wrote eight encyclicals)
